Our
Story

Movimiento Tricolor’s work began publicly in 2020 with the launch of Camden’s first Dominican Restoration Day cultural celebration. The event revealed the deep pride and strong desire to connect with their heritage and community. It confirmed what the founders already understood: the community was not only seeking celebration, but also representation, resources, and opportunities for leadership. On October 6, 2020, Movimiento Tricolor was officially established as a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the community through culturally grounded programs and community-driven initiatives.

Culture

Culture serves as the catalyst for community connection, belonging, and pride. By creating spaces where cultural identity is affirmed and celebrated, we strengthen the foundation that enables individuals and families to engage, lead, and participate more fully in their communities.

Economic Development

Economic opportunity is essential for long-term community stability and mobility. We support entrepreneurship, strengthen small business networks, and expand access to resources that help residents build financial resilience and contribute to a thriving local economy.

Civic Engagement and Advocacy

Strong communities require active participation in civic life. We help residents understand public systems, connect their lived experiences to community issues, and develop the confidence to advocate for policies and decisions that affect their lives.

Education

Culturally responsive learning opportunities help youth and families build knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills. By connecting learning to lived experience and cultural identity, we support pathways toward personal growth and community leadership.
